The Liverpool Light is an out-of-hours mental health crisis service, open from 6pm-1am, 7 days a week. It has been set up to provide a safe place for people experiencing a mental health crisis to come and begin their recovery. This service is a partnership between Creative Support and Liverpool City Council, as part of their pledge to prioritise mental health provision in the city.
The Liverpool Light has been set up to provide preventative crisis support to clients with mental health needs. 29% of people in Liverpool experience long term depression, learning problems, mental health related issues and nervous disorders – that is over 140,000 people in the Liverpool region (LCC compendium).
The service enables self-care resilience in lieu of admission to A&E departments, providing a specialised service outside of GP and day service hours. Our main focus is on reducing potential hospital admissions and ensuring clients have a safe and secure environment. This will enable de-escalation, intervention and preventative support.
